Dedicated to the memory of Right Rev. Dr. Jacob Ajetunmobi

We are sad to announce that our Father, Right Rev. Dr. Jacob Ademola Ajetunmobi passed away on Monday, 14th December 2020 at our family home in Hayes, London after a long battle with cancer. This has been a very difficult time for our family and so we ask for your patience as we make preparations for his funeral which will take place in the UK in January 2021.

We want to honour Daddy and his memory without putting other lives at risk and so the church service will be streamed online for friends and family to witness around the world.

We are grateful for the many messages of condolences that have been pouring in by text, phone and numerous forms of social media. We appreciate that Daddy was a father, brother and friend to many who are now grieving with us in what has already been a challenging year. This tribute page is a means to capture your memories in the form of an online memorial for Daddy.

Thoughts

Uncle fondly calls me Grandma Sarah, to which I always joyfully responded calling him a grandson. Uncle lived as if he knew he didn't have much time to complete his missions on Earth. He approached every vision relentlessly like a house on Fire. Bishop Jacob as many fondly call him in London was a people’s man and related to many from different walks of life both young and old affectionately with due respect. Words are not enough to express how much joy it is to know you. I wrote the poem “I AM A PRINCE” which summons up your life by looking through the mirror. Thank you for the joy you gave to many and a big thank you to your beloved wife and sons who cheerfully and sacrificially supported you in your missions. We pray that the Almighty God will bless, keep and uphold Auntie Dorcas, Theo, Barny, Tim, and the beautiful daughters in love and grandchildren that you left behind. You will never lack any good thing in Jesus' mighty name. Uncle, Bishop Jacob Ademola Ajetunmobi you have fought the good fight, you have finished the race, you have kept the faith and you have finished well! May the Lord grant you Eternal Rest in Jesus' mighty name. Rest in your Father’s Glory Olapeju Sarah Coker and Family

Dr & Dr Mrs Tubosun & Sayo Odejide Our dearly beloved brother Bishop Ajet, you were a special gift to the world. We had known you for over 50 years and especially when you fell in love with Dorcas, your wonderful wife. You were such a cheerful person who related freely and cordially with the lowly as well as the highly placed people. Your faith in Christ was solid, simple, open and infectious. You demonstrated love to all who came your your way. You demonstrated radical humility and generosity. We cannot forget how you, a Rev'd gentleman, used to pound yam to entertain us whenever we visited your family in London. Laughter plus a good sense of humour was God's gift in your life that brought healing to many individuals, homes and the body of Christ. We will continue to miss you until we meet to part no more at the feet of Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour. This is our comfort. Amen.

The news of home call of our beloved retired Bishop Dr. Jacob Ajetunmobi, the pioneer Bishop of the Diocese of Ibadan South, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) has been a rude shock to me; but with gratitude to God we received the news in faith believing it is just a means of crossing over to ever be with the Lord. Bishop Ajet, the second Chaplain to the Nigerian Chaplaincy in London died in London and will be buried in London. We held a Memorial Service for the late Bishop in the Cathedral of St. David Kudeti yesterday. The baton I used and the organ that my boy played were bought in London by the Bishop for the Diocese Comprehensive College he started during his episcopacy. Bishop Ajet made me a Deacon and five months after, he ordained me into priesthood of Holy Order. I also served as his last Chaplain staying with him in the Bishop's Chaplain's house in the Bishop's Court. He was a God fearing personality, humbled, very jovial, down- to- earth and extremely generous. He opened his house to all, welcomed all and sundry to give love and happiness to troubled souls. As his Chaplain, I learned many things within the few months we stayed together. I cannot possibly forget his warm reception given to us the weary missionaries; with his pyjamas still on welcoming us to our well furnished residence. He loved my family like his own. God used Bishop Ajet to fulfil His promises for my dad before he joined the Saints Triumphant; he made my dad Canon and Venerable the same day after two years my dad retired from the ministry! I have not heard such before but just because God promised and He fulfilled it through a faithful servant Bishop Ajet who carried it out; I will, for ever, appreciate this. We will surely miss Bishop Ajet, we will miss him, no doubt about it. People's Bishop, Bishop of joyous people, but our solace is in God Who comforts us. We will still meet at the Beautiful Shore to part no more. Requiescat in pace, Baba Bishop Ajet. Yours is a sweet repose, take your rest in the bosom of your Lord. Adieu! From your Chaplain Saaaaamu.
